A Father's Wish

A father's wishes for his children,
Are generally few and quite simple.
He prays that they will find Christ,
And share with others their new life.
He hopes that they will have a good life,
Hopefully free of much worry or strife.
He plans to protect them, but not by his will,
But by the security they gain from the cross on a hill.
He has a love for his children that is gentle and tough,
Like the love from his Father above, this is more than enough.
Trust and honor and his words that are true,
They are his character, his way and it is nothing new,
That what he hopes to pass on to those left behind,
Are not possessions unlimited, nor unlimited time.
His main wish is just one simple thing,
That they will honor his life by having Christ as their King.
